Life's a beach!

As I drove Grace out of the garage I decided to bring her for a bit of a spin to get used to her.......so we set off for the west coast of Clare.
All together now
It's a long, long way from Clare to he-e-ear.
Well I figured we should start as we mean to go on and Grace will just have to get used to taking off on a whim. We went down to visit my good friend Sinéad.
By the way, she did know I was coming. I just don't arrive at your doorstep, I will give a warning!

As it was a glorious April afternoon we headed for nearby Lahinch beach. Lots of other people had the same idea.

As we were walking along the strand we met two women coming in the opposite direction. We were passing each other when I did a double take.
"HELEN? CATHERINE?" I squealed.
Yep,they were two people I'd known in Abu Dhabi . Catherine I would have met a few times, but I hadn't seen Helen since I came back home over a decade ago! That's Ireland for ya, you can go nowhere without meeting someone you know.

It amazes me how people thing they can get away with having an affair in this country. I mean, if you rock up at a hotel for a dirty weekend with your lover, you're bound to bump into your mother-in-law at reception! Which begs the question, what is she doing there???

Anyway, we had a great catch up.

Later that evening we sat on the sea-front wall and ate our dinner of burger and chips, washed down with tea from a cardboard cup, while watching the sun set.

Has to be one of my top 5 meals EVER!

And as the saying goes, we left nothing behind but our footprints.

The End of an Era

All good partnerships eventually come to an end....
Bonnie and Clyde
Cassidy and Sundance
Me and Roxy.
Yes, it was with a very sad heart that I realised that it was time to sell Roxy.

We had seven good years together, travelling the length and breadth of the country, in hail, rain and snow.  People would say things to me like
"I saw Roxy in Mullingar/Mountmellick/Rooskey".
And I would think
I know! I was the one driving her! I don't let her go out on her own.

Never did she let me down until a little hiccup recently.
And so it was time to say goodbye.
I was genuinely sad about leaving her. As I left her on the garage forecourt I felt a little like Tom Hanks when Wilson floated away from him in Castaway.

However every girl needs a a partner in crime
May I introduce you to Grace.

After some consideration I decided to name her after two of my heroines........

Grace Kelly, who was considered to be a cool, ice maiden.

And the famous Irish pirate queen, Grace O Malley, who traveled up and down the coast, getting up to all sorts of devilment!
Let the new era begin!

Oh what a night!

I went to see the musical "Jersey Boys" in the Bord Gais Energy Theater last night.
What a dreadful name for a musical venue, but a lovely place.

It's the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It documents the highs and lows of their band, from their beginning in Jersey to their inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There were many twists along the way.

In the second act there is a scene where their bass drummer decides he has had enough. He's fed up and wants to go back home. So he quits the band right in the middle of one of their tours.
Suddenly a cold shiver went down my spine and I had a clear premonition of what was going to happen to me in the future.
I could vividly see myself IN TWENTY YEARS TIME, sitting in the exact same seat in the exact same theater, watching......
ONE DIRECTION-THE MUSICAL!
It had a different musical score, but the exact same script!

And then there were four!

Maybe I am psychic but to be honest you don't really need to be Mystic Meg to see that one coming!
