"If you come back here alive"
was very morbid for a boyband. I mean, where the hell was she going that was so dangerous?
To Afganistan? The sales?
It was only recently that I heard it again on some "golden oldies" programme and I realised they were actually singing the much soppier lyrics of "If you come back in my life"!
I heard a similiar story from an older lady, only this didn't involve a song.
She remembers going to her first funeral when she was about six years of age. As the priest prayed over the coffin he said
"In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost".
She was sure he said
"In the name of the Father and of the Son and into the ground he goes".
For years she thought that this was the official prayer over the dead.
And do you know what? I prefer her version!
Reading back over this blog I've just realised that it's a good job they didn't sing my version of Blue's song at the funeral. It wouldn't have been politically correct!
